Indonesian prisons have long been identified as hotspots for radicalization and violent extremist recruitment. This stems from various factors, including overcrowded facilities, inadequate rehabilitation programs, and the presence of influential extremist figures who exploit vulnerable inmates. Given this context, it is crucial to support the government’s efforts in Preventing Counter Violent Extremism (P/CVE) within the prison system.

CDS involved in the establishment of high-risk prisons research. The prisons represent a significant step in mitigating the challenges posed by violent extremism within the correctional system. We are also involved in arranging guidance on assessment, policies, capacity building, and P/VCE for prison officers. We recognize the critical role that prison officers play in preventing violent extremism (PVE) within correctional facilities. To address the challenges of radicalization and build a resilient correctional environment, we focus on developing tailored instruments that integrate assessment, policy creation, capacity building, and PVE-specific tools for prison officers.
